20 Video Game Skills That Secretly Change The Game
3. Terraforming - Spore
The space stage of Spore, Maxis’ iconic evolution sim, is one of the least liked parts of the game. The space flight is boring, the diplomacy is very basic, and the fighting gets really boring really fast, as bombing enemy colonies requires you to endlessly drop slow-falling bombs at their cities.
But what if there was a way to make the last part a little more interesting? What if you could defeat your enemies without having to fire a single laser or dropping a single bomb?
Well, you can. By terraforming.
Terraforming tools are special atmosphere-changing devices that allow you to turn barren planets into thriving ecosystems. The tools are not made for combat, as rising or dropping temperatures don't impact enemy assets at all… unless you’re fighting against the Grox.
The Grox are the cyborg species that occupy the center of the galaxy. They are the single most powerful faction in the game with a huge territory and awfully tanky spaceships.
However, because they despise organic life, the Grox can only live on barren planets. This means that if you quickly terraform any of their worlds, the Grox will immediately die on the chosen planet without you having to fight their overpowered military.
Make plants, not war.
