20 Video Games That LIED (And Got Away With It)

6. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Set thousands of years before events in the Star Wars movies, Knights of the Old Republic is a beloved RPG that many feel is one of the greatest Star Wars video games ever made. The story revolves around a powerful Sith Lord Darth Malak and his invasion of the Republic. Playing as an unnamed soldier, you're told you have the potential to be a Jedi, and gradually become involved in the fight against Malak as the game progresses.

However, this game's lie ends up being a HUGE one. The protagonist is far from some unnamed random soldier. He was actually Darth Revan, a powerful Sith Lord who was defeated by the Jedi before the game even started.

Instead of killing Revan, the Jedi wiped his memories, in the hopes of using him against Malak, his former apprentice. The other Jedi have known the truth all along, but neither Revan or the player is told this until a key moment in the story, ensuring the twist has lived long in the memory ever since.
