20 Weirdest Licensed Video Games EVER
6. Friday the 13th (NES)
From one slasher icon to another, the video game world has been plagued by masked killers since the early days and the results have always been a tad odd but few can claim to be as stranger as LJN's legendary Friday the 13th game for the NES.
Released around the time when the franchise was starting to flounder in theatres, Friday the 13th's NES entry remains an interesting footnote in the franchise's history, mostly due to it's poor reputation shifting over time into something of a warped appreciation.
Players must take control of a series of camp councillors and navigate the vast camp-grounds of Crystal Lake, all the while lighting fires, saving other councillors, gathering weapons and avoiding Jason Voorhees at all costs. The last part is especially important as Jason's attacks seemingly come at random, forcing you into either side-scrolling battles or punch-out style death-matches that require incredibly precise movements to win.
Jason's not the only thing you have to worry about either, as Crystal Lake also happens to be home to werewolves, zombies, killer bats and even Jason's mother's floating disembodied head - you know, those classic staples of the Friday the 13th franchise....
Okay, that last one is, but still, it's a very weird game.
