20 Weirdest Licensed Video Games EVER

7. Terrifier: The ARTcade Game

In the last the decade or so, horror-movie villains have successfully carved out a niche in the video game market, with titles such as Dead By Daylight, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the unfortunately now deceased Friday the 13th game giving players the chance to stomp around in the boots of their favourite villains and enact all manner of carnage and mayhem.

Given the success of the recent Terrifier film series, it seemed only natural that Art the Clown would eventually throw his tiny black hat into the ring - only what we eventually got wasn't the usual asymmetric horror fare that fans have come to expect.

Instead what we got was a side-scrolling brawler wherein Art and his fellow demonic companions slice and dice their way across multiple levels, all rendered in a cutesie pixel-art style that feels somewhat at odds with the more grim tone of the films that inspired it.

It could certainly be argued that the Terrifier movies are supposed to be mindless gory fun, and in that sense Terrifier: The ArtCade game delivers, but placing the characters into an old-fashioned style brawler feels like a missed opportunity - who knows, maybe Art will end up in Dead by Daylight in the future...
