In terms of upcoming movie sequels that have the potential to actually exceed their predecessors, Deadpool 2's choice of director (John Wick's David Leitch) and enticing new cast members (Josh Brolin as Cable and Zazie Beetz as Domino) should ensure the movie isn't just a lazy rehash of what worked the first time.

If the sequel has a more robust plot and doesn't lean on superhero formula quite so much while continuing to embrace Wade Wilson's motormouth and fourth wall-breaking abilities, Deadpool 2 could be one of the year's most satisfying sequels.

As long as it's imaginatively ultra-violent and packed with goofy one-liners, it can't go too far wrong.
