2. The Cost

Nintendo finally budged recently and announced an official price cut as it phased out it's Basic and Nintendo Land bundles. Prior to this many retailers were offering discounted bundles of their own. I purchased my Wii U, near new at a price way below RRP.

With X-Box One and PS4 skirting the £500 and £400 price box respectively; £250 doesn't seem like an awful lot. Games for all three still seem to officially retail at around the £40-50 mark, however the savvy shopper can pick up Wii-U titles for much, much less. For example a sealed copy of Darksiders II cost me £15 including postage and I picked up Wind Waker, brand new, for £25 a week after release. Official prices on the e-Shop are often discounted as well, either permanently or for lengthy limited periods.

Oh and that snazzy wireless controller that looks like a SNES game pad? About £15.

The bottom line here is, if you're paying the full recommend retail price for hardware or software you're doing it wrong.
