50 Essential Star Wars Games You Must Play

50. Star Wars: Episode I €“ The Phantom Menace (1999) - Windows, PlayStation

Out of the ashes of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, came a game that actually puts a positive spin on this dark piece of the saga. The plot follows the film's narrative as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, Queen Amidala or Captain Panaka battle through the major events of the film. Yes. There are some terrible voice acting moments and it is awash with blocky graphics, but it is a fun romp through the world of Episode 1. And a good place to start the list.

49. Star Wars (1983) - Atari 2600

The 80's saw the beginning of the modern video game craze, and it's little surprise that Star Wars was a big player in these early games. Atari's Star Wars began life as an arcade game released in 1983. This game is a first person space simulator, that focuses around the attack on the Death Star from A New Hope. The game is composed of 3D colour vector graphics, and the home port is a quaint piece of gaming history that set the scene for future titles.

48. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1982) - Atari 2600

And now to what is often considered to be the first Star Wars video game, Atari's Empire Strikes Back. The game allows you to control a snowspeeder as you battle an AT-AT walkers on Hoth. The goal is to hold off the walkers as long as possible before they blow up the power generator at the Rebels' Echo Base. This is a basic side scroller but is fun and not bad for the first Star Wars game.

47. Angry Birds Star Wars (2012) - Mobile Devices

I dislike the whole Angry Birds thing, but it is a landmark of pop-culture, and this Angry Birds Star Wars crossover is a must play game due to that fact. Launched on November 8, 2012, it has become a beast in its own right. Angry Birds Star Wars currently has 5 worlds on most platforms including Tatooine, Death Star, and Hoth. It has introduced a whole new demographic to Star Wars, so it can't be all bad...

46. Star Wars: Pit Droids (2007) - Mobile Devices

Based in the podrace arena of Tatooine, Star Wars: Pit Droids was released by Lucas Learning in 1999, and on May 4th 2012 it was offered for free on iTunes store after a February 2012 mobile release. Even though it is intended for users age 9 and up, it is a fun little puzzle game.You play as pit droids tasked to solve 300 different puzzles, each randomly selected for eight levels. With each puzzle you complete, you gain points. This will unlock a new level and a bunch of humorous pit droid clips.
