8 Manliest Characters In Gaming History

By Edward Owen /

5. John Marston €“ Red Dead Redemption

If Father€™s Day was a competition in the video game world, John Marston would just about shade out Ethan Mars because while chopping off some of your finger is pretty damn impressive, there€™s just something about murderising a bear to save your idiot son which just ticks all the many boxes. Fighter, lover, hunter and ass-kicker extraordinaire, Marston cuts an impressive swathe through the American Old West while wearing a glorious hat and possessing a face so rugged you can actually light matches from it. Haunted by his past but willing to make amends, his quest sees him take down a small country€™s worth of bandits, duel with aplomb and hunt enough animals to give PETA a class-A nightmare, his story is nothing short of spectacular in both drama and sheer manliness. The fact he sacrifices himself €“ after murdering most of the Bureau of Investigation €“ to make sure his wife and son get away just makes his manly legacy all the more impressive. When all€™s said and done, there€™s just something to admire about a man who€™s so formidable he can actually bend time to his will to pick his shots. Such an ability deserves near-constant praise.
