Well, there's 2021 nearly done and dusted!
We're sure it's probably a year that none of us are particularly going to want to remember, but at least for us gamers, we had our games to get us through what - let's face it - has been a right old sh*te year.
There's been plenty to celebrate about the gaming industry this year, with some truly stunning games released such as It Takes Two, Halo Infinite and Metroid Dread, but - unfortunately - the game industry continues to be awash with some absolute stinkers of stories too.
You'll probably look back at a few of these and think 'wait, was that this year?' but that's simply because so much has happened over the last 12 months that everything seems to blend into one.
So, what were the biggest, most horrible events that plagued the gaming industry in 2021? Let's get cracking, shall we?
9. "We're Here To Kill Chaos!" - Final Fantasy: Stranger Of Paradise Reveal
In what was one of the most memeable gaming reveals of 2021, Square Enix revealed earlier this year that they'd been collaborating with Team Ninja on a new take on the Final Fantasy series: Final Fantasy Origin: Stranger of Paradise.
Combining together the gameplay of Nioh with the lore and world of the original Final Fantasy game, Stranger of Paradise on paper sounds quite intriguing.
Its initial reveal, however, left a lot to be desired.
Firstly the game looked ROUGH. In a world where we expect shiny new graphics, this looked like a PS3-era title that had somehow crossed the gaps between generations.
Then there was the trailer. Oh boy....the trailer.
Starring three ridiculously-dressed (even for Final Fantasy standards) dudebros, the trailer was all about KILLING CHAOS. The main character was here to KILL CHAOS, and he wanted you to know about it. In fact, he said it so much in the trailer we ended up thinking that he couldn't say anything else.
As is to be expected, the trailer captured the minds of every gamer on the planet for a couple of weeks due to its sheer ridiculousness, and you could barely move on the internet without somehow shouting about KILLING CHAOS.
