FromSoftware's genre-establishing masterpiece remains just as playable today as ever - especially thanks to the Remastered Edition - but if you are going back through Lordran, check out the Painted World of Ariamis.
Located by first returning to the Undead Asylum after the tutorial to pick up the Peculiar Doll from your starting cell, take this to the large painting inside Anor Lando's leftmost church, and you'll end up in Ariamis.
A really visually distinct area packed with hordes of poison cloud-spewing zombies and some infuriating harpes, Ariamis is also home to the devastating optional boss, Crossbreed Priscilla.
In true FromSoft style, this is one of the coolest areas in the entire game - yet one only a fraction of all Dark Souls players have seen.
