I was really excited when I found out there would be side content in Arkham City as that was something I felt Asylum lacked. I'm not just talking about Riddler stuff, but entire tasks dedicated to taking down supervillains that otherwise didn't fit into the story. Sadly that wasn't the case. Out of the 12 side missions, only six were dedicated to a villain, and of those six only two were truly satisfying. Really the problem was the missions were either pointless, disappointing, or time-oriented to the point of being annoying. Pointless missions were the likes of having to collect new gadgets or do small-time challenges reliant on an unknown clock programmed in the game, meaning players would have to wait until the event occurred (as was the case with Deadshot, Hush, and the political prisoners). Then the all-out disappointing missions were where the villain was reduced to all talk and no game such as Zsasz or Bane. In the end, Riddler and Mad Hatter were the only ones that truly stood out as worth completing. For Arkham Knight, surely all of Batman's villains won't make it into the story, regardless of how big RockSteady blows it up to be. We'd like the side missions to really pack some power as some of the Dark Knight's rogues take the opportunity of an evacuated city to reign anarchy and destruction.
