Battlefield 1: 10 Problems From The Beta That Must Be Fixed

1. Everything About The User Interface

Where is there to even start with this?

Nothing, absolutely nothing is good about the user interface. For starters, the main menu is ripped right out of Battlefront. Not necessarily bad, but it would be nice to see a unique menu system and not just a repackaging.

However, when you actually get into a game, it gets even worse. Hitting start simply sends you into a limbo state, as the game will seemingly struggle to load the start menu. Once, I was actually left in said limbo state, racking up multiple deaths I could not control, only to be inevitably forced to quit the beta and restart it.

On top of that, did you know there was a respawn timer?

Indeed, the respawn timer in Battlefield 1 is a small white progress bar above the white deploy button. Thanks to both being the same color and extremely small, it's near impossible to see. A lot of the problems with hidden features are caused by the problems with the user interface.

While it's certainly understandable why the game goes with a minimalistic approach, as it fits with the time period, it just feels too bare. There needs to be a compromise between functionality and minimalism, and at this point, Battlefield 1 just simply isn't there.
