11. Get Free Items In The Firelink Shrine

If you're new to the Souls experience, chances are you'll be far more preoccupied thinking everything is trying to kill you than experimenting with who you can actually talk to.

As such, make a point of routinely checking in with all the characters that amass at Firelink Shrine over your journey - especially Hawkwood (pictured above). Every time a boss or two are defeated, come back and do a lap through the main chamber and round the bottom caverns; you'll be gifted with various rings, coins that can boost item discovery and stones that Andre the Blacksmith will craft better weapons with.
