1. It's Still Years Away

Bioware

Even though Bioware have been open about Dragon Age 4's existence, don't expect it any time soon. Back when it was first unveiled, there were reports that it was at least three years away, making the earliest release date some point in 2021.

That was to be expected; it was announced while Bioware were still all hands on deck on Anthem, months before that looter shooter was ready for the market.

At the time, it was reported that the team had "not put a substantial amount of effort" into the fantasy sequel. These reports have again been corroborated by Kotaku's article, confirming that the game is in very early development, only beginning production proper now that the Edmonton team has been freed up.

So, why have the team revealed it so early? There are theories, including them knowing Anthem wouldn't please hardcore Bioware fans, so Dragon Age 4 was announced early to give players a title to look forward to and prove the studio's commitment to the kind of games they're known for.

Nobody really knows for sure, but we certainly have plenty of time to speculate.
