Square Enix's half-hour livestream can only scarcely be called a conference, and their showing here was so utterly piecemeal you have to wonder why they really bothered.

The widely-expected Avengers Project no-showed, we heard nothing more about Final Fantasy VII Remake, got a weird, ambiguous teaser for new action game The Quiet Man, and saw a technically sloppy, badly-edited trailer for Kingdom Hearts III.

Aside from introducing PlatinumGames' new IP Babylon's Fall and smartly going the pre-recorded route after 2015's laughable live show, this was extremely disappointing and a far cry from what most fans were expecting.

Ultimately, this felt like an arbitrary show lazily cobbled together to appease investors rather than one to actually get fans excited about upcoming titles.
