After a steady chugging hype train, the original Yooka-Laylee arrived to mild applause. It was a retro game fan's dream, as several key players from Rare Studio's platforming golden era linked up to make a game in the same tradition as their beloved Banjo Kazooie.

Yet, when it finally arrived, it was solid but also a barren 3D world with floaty controls.

Now armed with the chance to redeem themselves, the studio is set proceedings in a 2D world that echoes their championed Donkey Kong Country. Hopefully, it does the trick this time around.
