It is no secret that Rockstar found themselves overwhelmed when it put the GTA V servers online at the beginning of October. Millions of gamers tried and failed to get into lobbies, thwarted by the mandatory tutorial missions. We already know how to play the game Rockstar - why introduce a tutorial? All this accomplished was forcing players into a repetitive rut as they witnessed a car pull up, a driver get out, and then the car disappear and the whole process start over again. What's more, now that Rockstar have stabilised (for the most part) the online portion of the game, they are giving $500,000 to everybody. Why? To compensate for character loss? How does this enforce the rules against those who have boosted their way to levels as high as 200? Giving them more money only assists them further? The better solution would have been to retain player appearances but reset stats to 0, allowing all gamers to start afresh. The damage limitation and compensation exercise which is planned will do little to solve the game's problems or redress the imbalance between those who have played the game honestly and those who have not.
