You know Nintendo are serious about the next instalment in a franchise when it comes with the "Super" nomenclature.

In Mario Party's case it marks a debut on Switch hardware, but best of all, a handful of the games can be played across multiple Switches; their screens sliding together to create one giant play-space.

Aiming to give consumers a slew of 80 enjoyable minigames that are easy to get your head around, the EGX build still highlighted how Mario Party is one big board game, allocating coins, rolling dice and picking up boosts along the way.

Minigames included avoiding banana peels during a race, trying to use a magnifying glass by holding the Joy-Con in a precise way, and playing Russian dolls with a handful of Toads - all things that sure sound like Mario Party, but on Nintendo's best hardware yet.
