DO NOT PAY FOR MARIO KART TOUR'S GOLD SUBSCRIPTION.
Besides being a stupid idea to pay $5 a month for an app, MKT also locks 200cc speed behind this paywall. It's made all the more insulting when you realise Nintendo Switch Online (which includes the original Mario Kart and tons more legendary offerings) is only $15 for a full year, never mind just the one month.
Anyway, with that out the way, you still have access to a free "trial period" for Gold Pass, that will last two weeks.
Again I will state: YOU MUST CANCEL THIS BEFORE THE TWO WEEK PERIOD EXPIRES. Mario Kart Tour will not prompt you for additional payment - it will just continue to bill you in the background.
The benefits of Gold though, involve access to additional Gold Challenges, the instant unlock of skins and karts, 200cc and the ability to get more skins and characters resigned to the rarer tiers.
If you're after better gear, begin the trial, get all the goods and cancel it when you're done.
