Although this goes without saying, there is always a concern that beloved games can have their DNA watered down to appeal to a newer audience. It's happened before, look how Sonic The Hedgehog has been treated since the end of the Mega Drive days and with Mortal Kombat being nearly as old a franchise, there is always a concern that it could be toned down somewhat. Thankfully the trailer confirms that not only is the violence still bloody, but that it's been so well done that it's almost painful to watch. Every punch and kick connects between the two characters with a satisfying thud, crunch or squelch, with the character receiving such a blow reacting in a realistic way either contorting or falling in line with the force of the attack. As the trailer comes to a close though, the true nature of Mortal Kombat's violence is shown, with Scorpion launching his signature barbed chain right through Sub Zero's forehead and with his iconic catchphrase of "Get over here!" tears his head off and impales it against a tree with a throwing knife. Confirmation, if you ever needed it, that Mortal Kombat X is not for the faint of heart or stomach.
