7. Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Ubisoft

Losing some ground despite being a direct followup to the roundly adored Assassin's Creed Origins, thanks to having a bizarrely off-brand feel, Odyssey still looks gorgeous and will likely be addictive as hell once you dive into the combat.

However, it's that combat that remains the biggest sticking point. Ubisoft have gone all-in on the supernatural, giving us flame swords, glowing daggers, ground-pound shockwaves and everything in between. Gameplay comes with a steady rollout of loot, meaning you're always changing up your approach to scenarios and how your character looks, but it's hard to shake the fact this just doesn't look like an Assassin's Creed game anymore.

Still, graphics are some of the best in the business and the aforementioned combat could turn out to be some of the industry's best. After all, it's only really devs like Platinum Games that dominate the third-person hack n' slash market, so why not let a bigger budgeted release take a shot?
