TYOA: 8 Gaming Dialogue Choices That BETRAYED You

7. "Be Very Careful" - Vampyr

Considering that Vampyr was developed by Life is Strange's Dontnod Entertainment, it was reasonable to assume that they knew how to write dialogue options that accurately represented the spoken line itself.

But not quite in this case, when protagonist Jonathan Reid speaks to Charlotte Ashbury, the daughter of his love interest Elizabeth Ashbury, who is determined to achieve eternal life by any means necessary.

In one exchange, Charlotte suggests to Jonathan that she could simply throw herself into his vampiric arms and let nature take its course.

At this point, players are given three dialogue options, which all appear to be similar flavours of disapproval of Charlotte's insinuation.

But if you pick "Be very careful," Jonathan will launch into a graphically descriptive tirade where he tells her, "Be careful what you wish for, young lady. I could gaze at you right now and then take you to a shady corner, have my way with you, and leave your carcass to the rats."

As unsavoury as Charlotte's suggestion was, that's just way too strong a response, especially coming from such a vague three-word description.
