TYOA: 8 Gaming Dialogue Choices That BETRAYED You

2. "Very Funny" - The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings

The Witcher 2's prologue sees Geralt of Rivia imprisoned under suspicion of assassinating Foltest, the king of Temeria, at which point Geralt is interrogated by Vernon Roche, the head of the Temerian special forces.

As a restrained Geralt sits at the interrogation table, Roche enters the room and introduces himself while extending a hand, with players then given two options to retort - "I'd shake your hand if I could," or "Very funny."

But pick the latter option and Geralt will actually say, "F**k you."

As amusing and unexpected a response as this is, it isn't quite what most people expected when they selected the decidedly softer and more harmless text option.

Granted, this is hardly the only example of The Witcher franchise's duplicitous dialogue and far from the worst example - what with the infamous saga of breaking Dijkstra's leg in the third game - but it's still a totally ridiculous way to onboard players.
