8 Most Insane Instances Of Video Game Plot Armour

5. Scott Shelby Is The Killer Who Won't Die - Heavy Rain

There ain't no plot armour like Scooby-Doo Villain Plot Armour, where a certain character can't possibly die because they need to do their whole bad guy reveal spiel first.

And in the case of Quantic Dream's interactive drama Heavy Rain, there are two characters who can't die until the very end of the game - protagonist Ethan Mars and private investigator Scott Shelby.

Ethan being protected makes sense considering he's our hero and all, while Scott's plot armour is kept quiet for one big reason - he's actually the serial murderer known as the Origami Killer, and if he could die before the game's climax, well, there wouldn't be much of one.

And so, there are a few set-pieces in which Shelby's life is apparently put in danger where he just can't die.

For one, when he's trapped in a car sinking to the bottom of a lake, the game simply won't continue until you press the correct command to free him.

And far more hilariously, when Shelby gets engaged in a gunfight with like a dozen goons at Kramer's mansion, if you decide to do nothing you'll get to watch as Shelby is riddled with a laughable number of bullets only to miraculously walk it off.

As it turns out, Scott can only die during his final standoff with Ethan.
