8 Video Games That RUINED Great Characters

6. Johnny Klebitz - Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto IV's expansion The Lost and Damned delivered one of the series' greatest protagonists to date in pragmatic biker Johnny Klebitz, and by story's end he actually seemed to have undergone some serious personal growth.

This largely pertains to him cutting off his toxic, meth-addicted girlfriend Ashley, but this revelatory moment was swiftly undone when we caught back up with Johnny in Grand Theft Auto V.

Here we learn that Johnny ended up going back to Ashley and, worse still, he has joined her in meth addiction.

And because that's not a tragic enough backslide for the guy, he ends up crossing paths with one of GTA V's protagonists, Trevor Philips, who has sex with Ashley.

An incensed Johnny confronts him, only for a nonplussed Trevor to throw Johnny to the ground, bottle him, and then stomp on his head until he dies.

It was an utterly miserable end for a fan favourite GTA protagonist, all of his character development being unpicked just to further cement Trevor's insanity. What a waste.
