WWE 2K16: 10 Awesome Old Features That Must Return

8. Sacrifice Ultra-Realism For Fun

Ever since seemingly the dawn of time, there's been talk about making WWE games have more of a simulation feel than the arcade-like offerings visible in titles such as WrestleMania: The Arcade Game (imagine that) or In Your House. As time has progressed, former developer THQ talked a lot about making the game experience more faithful to what fans could see on television, and this is something 2K Games have continued, but at what cost? For a lot of gamers, there's a fine line between the words 'simulation' and 'fun'. Yes, people still want the game to represent the feelings and atmosphere they can expect when watching WWE on TV, but the gameplay still needs to be fun. Arguably, this was never achieved more perfectly than with both WWF No Mercy (N64) and Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain (PS2). Both titles are fun to this day, managing to exist in a nice place between realism and more of an arcade style. In No Mercy, there's a depth to the gameplay, but it's never boring, something WWE 2K15 definitely can't claim. It's a chore to chug through matches, instead of the joy it should be, worrying about getting character placement correct in order to pull off fun moves shouldn't be as arduous.
