New year, new ratings, new shocks!
It's that time of year again, when the number shamans at 2K Games reveal to the world what the spirits have told them regarding the ratings for each wrestler in this year's WWE2K. And, as usual, the spirits' wisdom is often difficult to parse for us mere mortals.
While some of the ratings are absolutely spot on - Roman Reigns dropping from 99 to 97 is a perfect summation of his slowly crumbling aura - there are still enough questionable grades to prompt the creation of this article. Much like last year's effort, the arcane numerology 2K Games have employed for rating each wrestler in WWE2K24 has resulted in some surprisingly high ratings, as well as ones that are insultingly low.
However, it's not all bad as some of the surprises on this list are of the pleasant variety. 2K Games have rewarded some of the biggest names in the company with a suitably lofty rating that befits their stature, while simultaneously being unafraid to drop the hammer on some of the WWE's most disappointing performers.
With that being said, let's kick off this list by taking a look at the most surprisingly honest appraisal of any superstar in the game...
10. Surprise - Austin Theory (72)

Austin Theory is only worth 72 points this year.
The fact that these two sentences can co-exist without causing wrestling fans' brains to collapse from cognitive dissonance shows just how far the former office favourite has fallen from grace. And it that phrase - "office favourite" - that sums up why Theory's brutally honest rating is such a surprise.
Generally speaking, wrestlers that WWE higher-ups are keen on pushing tend to get higher ratings than they perhaps deserve. Take Karrion Kross, for example - last year he scored an 85, despite having done not much of anything since returning to the WWE. This year, Theory and Kross have seen their scores drop by a whopping ten points, but Theory's fall from grace is the more surprising when you consider how hard WWE were pushing him last year.
Austin Theory's bang-average 72 points feels like a rare admission of failure from WWE, and proof that the wheels have fallen off the Theory project to a stunning degree.
