10 Horror Movie Sequels You Probably Didn't Know Existed
10. Anacondas: The Hunt For The Blood Orchid
When Anaconda released way back in 1997, it took a relatively strong cast, led by Jennifer Lopez off the back of her breakout role in Selena, and produced a fun if rather forgettable horror flick. In all honesty, it has never been more relevant than after Jack Black and Paul Rudd's 2025 remake.
With the picture receiving eight Razzie nominations, you'd be forgiven for thinking that was that for the franchise. However, Anaconda was actually a commercial success at the box office and spawned an oft-forgotten sequel seven years later.
A slight improvement on its predecessor with just one Razzie nom in 2004 (Worst Remake or Sequel), it somehow still made money, and opened the door for further films. Even if you remember Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, which brought back no characters from the original, you may not remember movies three and four in the series.
Not even getting a theatrical release, Anaconda 3: Offspring (2008) and Anacondas: Trail of Blood (2009) killed the franchise dead, and none of them were even worth a mention in the "spiritual sequel" of 2025. Not even a throwaway gag that Doug and Griff (Black and Rudd) would be ignoring the actual sequels.
