10 Horror Movies That Suck So Bad You Can't Believe They Got Made
8. Mary
Not a biopic of Jesus' mum or that old lady on TV who makes the nice cakes, Mary from 2019 begins with a woman and her two daughters being discovered at sea after they were all presumed dead.
What began as a jolly family sailing trip turned into a living hell when it transpires that the salvaged boat they were sailing on was haunted. Don't you just hate it when that happens?
With Gary Oldman and Emily Mortimer leading the cast and plenty of potential for sea-faring scares, Mary could have been alright, but it turned out to be a complete shipwreck.
The plot is all over the place, swerving wildly from point to point with no room for the audience to digest any of the action. Even with an interesting premise and a claustrophobic location, Mary isn't scary one bit; in fact, it's actually quite boring.
Imagine a film with Gary Oldman in it being boring? That's nigh-on impossible.
If you're after a boat-based horror, then there are dozens of other vessels you should board before even attempting to get on this one.
