15 More Horror Movie Endings That Get Worse The More You Think About It
6. When Evil Lurks - The Curse Is Spreading
This thoroughly disturbing Argentinian horror concerns a supernatural evil that spreads like a virus. A local man named Uriel (portrayed by Pablo Galarza and Gonzalo Galarza) has been a 'Rotten', having been possessed by a demon and if the demon is not exorcized correctly, the curse will spread. A more conventional horror film might've allowed its protagonist, Pedro (Ezequiel Rodriguez), to successfully defeat the demon and save his family, but writer-director Demian Rugna had no interest in providing the audience with any sort of happy ending.
The most efficient way to spread the curse is to kill the possessed without following the correct ritual and that's exactly what Pedro does. Enraged after the death of one of his allies, Pedro kills Uriel and a fully-fledged demon is then born out of his corpse.
Not just that but when Pedro returns to his family, he discovers that his son, Jair (Emilio Vodanovich), has become possessed by the demon too, and he's revealed to have literally devoured his own grandmother. The picture ends with Pedro collapsing to the ground and wailing in anguish, and you know what makes this miserable ending even worse?
Now that the demon is free, it is near-certain that vast numbers of people were about to meet the same grisly fate as Pedro's family members did. This was only the beginning of a hellish nightmare.
