20 Awesome Horror Movies With No Sequels
9. Society
Brian Yuzna's Society is one sick puppy of a movie alright - a ferociously deranged body horror satire which features one of the most unforgettable climaxes in the genre's history.
Just try and say the word "shunting" aloud without cringing yourself into a fist.
Society didn't make much of a dent theatrically per its transgressive content, but it was a word-of-mouth hit on home video, and in 2003 a sequel comic book was released, Society: Party Animal.
But in 2013, Yuzna announced that he was developing an actual movie sequel, Society 2: Body Modification, which would've shifted its satire from wealthy elites to the VIP scene in exclusive, late-night Hollywood clubs.
However, even at the time Yuzna admitted that finding financing for the film was difficult, and that the oncoming "digital revolution" only made it that much more challenging.
Given that Yuzna is now in his late-seventies and hasn't directed a feature since 2010, it seems pretty safe to say that the ship has sailed on this one.
But there's also a purity to Society being this absolutely insane, solo slice of gonzo filmmaking.
