20 Horror Films Where The Hero Teams Up With The Villain
3. Pitch Black
Pitch Black follows a space crew who are transporting a serial killer, Riddick, to an off-world prison. When their vessel is knocked off-course, they crash-land on a planet with no natural light. To make matters worse, the dark world is infested with hostile creatures. Upon learning Riddick has night vision, the crew realises he's their best chance of surviving.
Riddick is incredibly dangerous since he treats the others as expendable and admits he'll do anything to stay alive, but as the extra-terrestrial threat escalates, Riddick becomes more reliant on his comrades. However, Riddick is only looking out for the others for his own best interests, not theirs.
Be that as it may, he has a change of heart after the pilot, Fry, sacrifices herself to save him and the crew. More importantly, Fry was ready to abandon the group earlier, proving to Riddick that it's never too late to change.
In that moment, Riddick does a full 180 and helps the survivors escape. His deeds are returned in kind, since the crew tells the authorities that Riddick had died, allowing him to start over.
