20 Horror Movies Everyone Remembers For Just One Scene
3. Final Destination 2 - The Log Truck
Out of the good Final Destination instalments - i.e., everything aside from the fourth one - Final Destination 2 is arguably the worst. It's still a good sequel, but it is hampered by its annoying characters and the way it does both of the first movie's survivors dirty. The reason why it's so often described as one of, if not the best Final Destination films is probably because it's got the single best sequence in the entire franchise. This opening alone levels the whole thing right up.
If you've ever wondered why so many millennials are unwilling to drive behind a log truck, this is the reason why. The opening road pile-up is a masterpiece in miniature, a ferociously brutal gore-fest rendered with superb practical effects that's as terrifying as it is undeniably captivating. Despite all of the horrible and squishy deaths, you'll never be able to look away, and it is quite arguably one of the greatest horror movie set-pieces not just of the 21st century, but of all time.
Such perfection is, inevitably, going to overshadow everything else. Ironically, Final Destination 2 has some other completely amazing set-pieces, yet nothing was ever going to top this.
