9. Magic Remake

1978's Magic is a deliciously twisted psychological horror starring Anthony Hopkins as a mentally ill ventriloquist whose fractured mind sees him "compelled" to kill by his foul-mouthed dummy companion, Fats.

The film was a modest success, and that was that, but back in 2022 it was announced that Sam Raimi was planning to direct a remake.

We heard nothing for the next three years, prompting many to assume that this was simply another of the many, many unrealised projects that Raimi has been attached to over the decades. But last year it was confirmed that Freddy vs. Jason and Send Help writers Mark Swift and Damian Shannon would pen the script, and back in May it was indeed reiterated that Magic was expected to be Raimi's next project.

Of all the cult classic horror movies to remake, it's certainly an intriguing one. In the very least, Sam Raimi seems like a fantastic choice for director, though it's absolutely a movie that'll sink or swim on the merits of its lead actor.
