15. They Follow

It Follows was a serious success relative to its budget in 2014 and has endured as something of a cult horror gem over the last 15 years, with fans regularly hoping that filmmaker David Robert Mitchell might finally get to work on a sequel.

Well, in October 2023, They Follow was finally announced to be in the works, with Mitchell set to re-team with original lead Maika Monroe for a direct follow-up.

Anyone hoping for a swift production start was out of luck, though, as, with Mitchell being kept busy with his new film The End of Oak Street, and Monroe ever in-demand in the horror genre, it seemed like the stars just weren't going to align for another collaboration. But in March, the actress confirmed that They Follow will indeed shoot this summer, meaning we're hopefully due an announcement of principal photography commencing within the next couple of months.

This will likely mean a 2027 release, the sequel coming some 13 years after the original.
