20 Horror Movies That Were JUST Announced
4. Gremlins 3
Even though Gremlins 2: The New Batch was a massive box office flop back in 1990, the franchise has remained popular enough that Warner Bros. has been actively pursuing a third film since 2013.
As of 2016, original Gremlins writer Chris Columbus was working on a script for a potential Gremlins 3, though in recent years word was muted enough on the sequel that it appeared to have been quietly scrapped.
Yet in April 2025, Warner Bros. announced they were indeed actively developing a third Gremlins with Columbus, and by July a draft of the script had been completed pending the approval of producer Steven Spielberg.
While fans couldn't really be blamed for not getting their hopes up at the time, back in November Warner Bros. formally confirmed that Gremlins 3 will release on November 19, 2027, with Columbus serving as both writer and director, while the script is being co-written by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein (Final Destination Bloodlines).
Columbus has also promised that the film will predominantly feature puppetry and animatronics rather than CGI, and here's hoping that does indeed turn out to be the case.
