20 Horror Movies That Were JUST Announced

3. Howl

There's been an interesting trend in recent years of successful comedians becoming horror filmmakers, most notably Jordan Peele, Zach Cregger, and the Philippou brothers, and next up the great Kumail Nanjiani will be hoping to put his own stamp on the genre.

Nanjiani, who received an Oscar nomination for co-writing dramedy The Big Sick with his wife Emily V. Gordon, recently announced that he'll be making his directorial debut with the horror film Howl.

Details are incredibly thin on the ground at the moment - we don't even know who wrote the script, or whether Nanjiani will also star - but considering the title, there's a fair chance it's got something to do with werewolves.

Nanjiani said in a recent interview that he fell in love with the script after reading it, and the success of recent comedians-turned-filmmakers such as Peele and Cregger helped push him to try his hand at directing for the first time.

Though the aforementioned names have set the bar incredibly high, hopefully he'll deliver a solid effort in his first time up to bat.
