19. A Nightmare on Elm Street 10

The A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise has been bafflingly benched since 2010's remake, and though the rights reverted to Wes Craven's estate back in 2019, only this past July has a new film gained any meaningful traction.

Well, two of them, to be precise.

It was just confirmed that Paramount has acquired the U.S. rights to the original 1984 film's screenplay, allowing them to produce a reboot, all while Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema will retain the international rights to the series. And so, the very same month, Warner Bros. announced their own competing Elm Street movie, with each studio racing to get their project ready before the Paramount-Warner merger closes.

After this point, the project furthest in development will apparently get the green light. 

We know scarcely little about either version, though Warner is reportedly courting Lee Cronin (Evil Dead Rise, Lee Cronin's The Mummy) to write and direct their take.
