10. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is such a strange experience. In contrast to the grounded terror of the original, this is a slapdash mess. 

It's a weird and unfunny horror-comedy in which a typically unhinged Dennis Hopper and one of the most annoying Final Girls in slasher history go up against Leatherface and his family, who are now based in some garish underground carnival. It's loud, it's ugly, it's screechy and in-your-face, while also filled with unsubtle sexual undertones. 

Not even 2013's Texas Chainsaw 3D, which memorably turned Leatherface into an antihero and features that infamous line "Do your thing, cuz!" is as out-there as this, and do you know what the most confusing thing of all is? Despite how completely different it is from its predecessor, the director of this sequel is none other than Tobe Hooper, the original movie's director. 

He felt that the original was actually more of a horror-comedy and that viewers had missed those elements... really? Well, if he was trying to make the first film more comedic, that never came through, and this sequel's tonal shift into horror-comedy was disastrous. It is never nice to see the creator of a franchise bringing their own creation down.
