10 Artists Who Refused To Be In The Rock And Roll Music Hall Of Fame
2. Dolly Parton
The most recent rejection is from the adored and extremely well-known country singer Dolly Parton. When the nominees for this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction were announced, Dolly herself was surprised to discover that she had been nominated. As soon as the nominees were announced, Mrs Dolly issued a statement on social media in which she said that she felt that she did not deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.
She explained her choice by saying that she did not consider her music to be rock and roll, so she should therefore not be a consideration for the award. In response to her statement, the organisation related a statement. It was explained that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame believed Dolly Parton to be a pioneer in the music industry and that the awards weren't only for rock and rollers. Over the years, the ceremony has seen plenty of country singers, from Johnny Cash and Brenda Lee to Chet Hankin and Hank Williams. This year's nominees are, in fact, not very rock and roll, with Eminem and Kate Bush as two of the front runners for the award.
Parton has since issued a statement in which she says she revokes her statement and will, in fact, accept the award should he win it.
