10 Bands Who Survived A Lead Singer Change

5. Blink-182

Blink-182 was a band that defined the 2000's for most teenagers, with the tuneful vocals and adolescent angst dripping through each hit they made. Once the band hit the mid-2000's though, the trio were at each other's throats, with each member wanting to branch out into more eclectic material.

This rift caused a major split for the band in 2005 and while their reunion in 2009 was a nostalgic throwback, old habits flaired up again and guitarist Tom Delonge was kicked out of the band once more. For many years, Tom had been one of the primary riff-crafters and the singer on half of Blink's hits, so his absence would surely be felt.

Once the band rolled into the 2010's, they acquired Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba, who appeared to be more than capable of filling Delonge's shoes. While Delonge's delivery was always perfect for pop-punk, the nasal inflections he employed seemed to kneecap the band when they went in newer directions. Now with Skiba's clean pipes in tow, the band ended creating some of the best pop-punk in ages with the album Caifornia.

The days of Delonge may be in the rearview now, but Blink's future with Skiba behind the mic has proven to be something exceptional.
