6. Ungrateful - Escape The Fate

Escape the Fate tackles an issue that has grown popular through the media in the 2013 year. The video for "Ungrateful" expresses the problems of bullying, and how serious the outcomes of it can be. Not only does it show what bullying can do, but how it starts. Through the video we see that bullying is a cycle, and violence is learned. A small boy is bullied to death by an older boy in school who we later see is bullied and beaten badly by his father. The father is even seen to be bullied by his work colleagues. The only thing that violence brings is hurt and has huge consequences on the people we love. The lyrics in the song say "stand up and scream while the rest of the world won't make a sound", imploring us as viewers to digest what we are seeing in the video, be disgusted by it, and stand up and do something about it if we happen to come across it in our everyday lives. The video then makes the issue all the more real by recognising young people who had lost their lives to bullying at the end. This music video is a powerful example of what music and media can do to get a message across to make a difference.
