5. This Is Gospel - Panic At The Disco

With the use of windy slow-motion and choreographed scenes, the video for "This is Gospel" is entertaining and dramatic, in a good way. Any video that uses single shooting methods where the action is being created not by fast paced editing but by choreographed movements, is always something to commend. In the beginning of the video we see Panic at the Disco's frontman Brendan Urie laying on a medical table being poked and prodded by doctors. He's then dressed and placed in a casket in which he manages to escape to only be tied up in rope. In an Alt Press interview, Urie explains that the song is about band mate Spencer Smith's drug addiction. He was upset that Spencer wouldn't get help from anyone which further resulted in Panic of the Disco members to break apart. The video matches well with this meaning. Urie is seen fighting against help from doctors which ultimately leads him to being put in a casket. The consequences of drugs are extremely serious, no matter how many times a person can try and cheat death, they will always find themselves tied up in addiction unless they realise their problems and seek help. This video is powerful and really expresses Urie's emotions on the manner in a beautifully constructed work of art.
