10 Biggest WTF Moments In 2000s Rock

A new millennium had dawned, but rock music was still as crazy as ever.

As the clocks ticked over from 1999 to 2000, everybody was anxiously anticipating what a new decade, century, and millennium would bring. Well, if they weren't absolutely petrified that a computer bug would cause planes to plummet from the sky and everyone's microwave to go on a killing spree.

Thankfully, Y2K did not kill us all in a blaze of hellfire, meaning that the world was free to continue spinning round and create one giant mess as it went.

Lucky us.

Speaking of giant messes, the rock music scene was having a whale of a time. The genre changed quite a bit between 2000 and 2009, as Britpop evolved into indie, grunge evolved into pop punk, and cheesy soft rock evolved into Nickelback.

Rock was also keen to continue its trend of providing some of the most insane moments in all of pop culture. The noughties were home to yet more bizarre releases, onstage incidents, and generally jaw-dropping acts from some of the world's biggest bands.

Once again, we will be touching on some sad stuff in this list, including death and drugs. Avoid entries 2 and 3 if you don't feel up to it.

10. Def Leppard And Taylor Swift

Formed in England in 1977, Def Leppard became one of the biggest rock bands of the 80s, with albums like Pyromania and Hysteria selling millions of copies worldwide. They were glam metal personified, with enough crunchy guitars and suggestive lyrics for everyone.

And then, in 2008, they played a stage show with a young singer by the name of Taylor Swift.

At the time, Swift was still firmly rooted in the country scene and was just weeks away from releasing her second album Fearless. She teamed up with the hard rockers as part of CMT Crossroads, a show that pairs country stars with musicians from other genres.

Other odd bedfellows include Kacy Musgraves and Katy Perry, Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie, and Hank Williams Jr. and Kid Rock.

That last one sounds wild.

Swift accompanied Joe Elliot on tracks like Pour Some Sugar on Me and Photograph, whilst the band chimed in on some of Taylor's songs like Should've Said No and Love Story.

The whole thing was filmed for a DVD that came out in 2009, meaning that you can own this very bizarre piece of rock history.
