10 Great Grinspoon Tracks

2. Comeback

Grinspoon sometimes out Weezer, Weezer. This is one such example. Simple arrangement, almost, nursery rhyme style verse and catchy chorus. Once again, the subject matter betrays the music and is pretty cynical. Telling a story of an ill fated journey to the promise of bright lights and big city in the verses, with the chorus having a pop at acts that seem to make a fanfare out of breaking up then having the overblown, inevitable reunion shortly after. "Don't call it a comeback, it's hardly a comeback if you've never gone." Pretty self explanatory. Davern's low harmonies in the chorus are sublime, and there are some great live versions of this song on YouTube where you can appreciate them further. This is probably a good gateway choice for people who perhaps aren't into music that is as hard rocking as the the "Grin", can often be.
