Original Artist Bonnie Tyler (1984)Released: 2007 - Collateral Defect Now there must be something in the water over there in Italy. A step back in time as we take a look at Graveworm and their cover of legendary 80s Bonnie Taylor hit, Holding Out For A Hero. This number one smash was originally a part of the Footloose Movie Soundtrack as a backdrop to his infamous dance routine in the abandoned factory, but later went on to be released on the album Secret Dreams And Forbidden Fires and became a staple in 80s music and pop culture history. Graveworms take on this 80s love opus is vastly different in many ways to say the very least. But this version does have a rather unique and hypnotic feel to it, as it not only remains faithful to the Bonnie Tyler version by incorporated original elements such as the similar keyboard structure. But at the same time manages to pay homage by utilising their melodic death metal skills to their fullest ability. Whether you follow the genre or not, it does manage to put a smile on your face if you are familiar with the original. Even die hard Bonnie Tyler fans should check it out themselves, if only to appreciate the effort put forth by these italian maestros of melodeath.
