10 Popular Performers That Prove Modern Pop Isn't All Bad

By Matthew Murray /

10. Cobra Starship

Cobra Starship rose to prominence back in 2009 with their smash single Good Girls Go Bad. But believe it or not, they€™ve been around longer than that. In fact, the band actually got their big break back in 2006 when they wrote the theme song for Snakes on a Plane. It was, oh so originally, titled Snakes on a Plane (Bring It). That mildly successful single was the first indication of what was to come from these disco influenced pop-punk pranksters. The tongue-in-cheek silliness of the band was irresistible from day one: €œtimes are strange, we got a free upgrade cuz€™ of snakes on the plane€. They were then signed by Pete Wentz€™s label Decaydance and have since produced four awesomely catchy pop-punk albums. Their latest offering Night Shades wasn€™t critically applauded like their first three but it did produce the awesomely catchy You Make Me Feel... Cobra Starship don€™t do much to inspire their listeners. But they are damn fun musicians who carry the nonsensical side of the 80s to modern listeners. Plus they have a dedicated keytar player...how can you not love that?
