Unlike many of the artists on this chart, U2 had been around for several decades before the release of their hit rock single "Beautiful Day" in 2000. It reached #21 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, but hit #1 in the UK, Ireland, Spain, and Australia to name a few. The song won Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the Grammy Awards in 2001, proving that the old dogs still had some new tricks. After forming in 1976, Bono and U2 slowly rose to prominence throughout their time. And they are still one of the best rock bands out there. They released hit single "Vertigo" in 2004 and continue to tour regularly, still selling out stadiums 38 years later. The band is still comprised of the original four who started it, and they have not lost a single step along the way.
