15 Artists Who Have Put Themselves On The Map In 2013

10. Gabrielle Aplin

Every Christmas, department store John Lewis releases a heart-warming advert that never seems to fail at catching the public€™s attention, both visually and musically. This is best evidenced by how 2010€™s iteration featured an Ellie Goulding rendition of Elton John€™s €˜Your Song€™ that went to number two in the charts and helped to send the Herefordshire vocalist into the stratosphere. For 2012, John Lewis decided to utilise another cover version, this time of Frankie Goes To Hollywood€™s €˜The Power Of Love€™, for their annual masterpiece. Their choice of artist was YouTube sensation Gabrielle Aplin, whose beautiful rendition of the song went straight to number one on the UK charts. Having followed her success with €˜Please Don€™t Say You Love Me€™ and €˜Panic Cord€™, both of which cracked the top twenty, Aplin€™s debut album was released on Monday. Should it do as well commercially as its first three singles have, then the twenty year-old from Bath will certainly be somebody to keep an eye on as recognition of her work becomes more widespread.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLdTcr98fSs
