Alter Bridge: 10 Toughest Tremonti Solos NO ONE Else Can Play
10. Slip To The Void
In this writer's opinion, 2010's ABIII is the absolute jewel in Alter Bridge's many-gemmed crown. The rawness of the incredibly sombre lyrics combined with dark and hard-hitting guitar melodies creates for a truly immersive microcosm of the depths of hopelessness from start to finish.
And it wouldn't be a Mark Tremonti work if the album didn't kick off with a song that featured a head-rattling whirlwind of guitar artistry.
'Slip To The Void' is multifaceted and fascinating even before the solo, which takes place in a kind of call-and-response section with the bridge. Over two separate four-bar phrases, the guitar answers the lilting vocals in impressive melodic barrages, lingering into the sections after with shiver-inducing ambient squealing.
And although it's a relatively short one as far as Alter Bridge solos go, it's still not one you're going to be able to replicate anytime soon.
